For a small marketing team, Sanity's Growth plan costs $15 per seat a month, and Storyblok's Growth plan costs $99 a month, or $90.75 a month billed annually, with 5 seats included. Contentful publishes its prices on its own pricing page, which blocked our script on the day we checked, so this post leaves its figure for you to read there. All three need a separately hosted frontend, such as Vercel Pro at $20 a month, while Webflow CMS includes hosting in its Site plan.

Monthly list price 3 editors 5 editors 10 editors
Sanity Growth $45 $75 $150
Storyblok Growth, billed monthly $99 $99 $174
Storyblok Growth, billed annually $90.75 $90.75 $165.75
Frontend hosting, Vercel Pro +$20 +$20 +$20
Webflow Premium + Limited seats, billed yearly, hosting included $55 $85 $160

Vendor list prices in USD from Sanity, Storyblok, Vercel and Webflow, checked 15 Oct 2026. Prices change, so confirm on each vendor's page before you budget. The Webflow row counts the owner's included full seat as one editor. Usage overages and taxes are extra.

What do the paid plans include?

Each vendor packages its entry paid plan differently. This table only uses figures that appear on each vendor's own pricing page:

Two billing details matter. Sanity's FAQ says self-serve plans are paid monthly only, with annual billing on Enterprise. Storyblok offers annual billing with one month free, which is where the $90.75 figure comes from. Webflow's prices above are its yearly-billing list prices.

Contentful is the third name most developers suggest. We could not read contentful.com/pricing on 15 October 2026 because the page returned a bot check to our script, and we don't quote prices we haven't read. Copy its current plan price, user count, locales and API limits from that page into the calculator below.

What does each cost for 3, 5 and 10 editors?

Seat pricing is where the plans pull apart. Sanity grows by $15 for every person. Storyblok's Growth price stays flat up to 5 seats and then rises by $15 per seat, to a maximum of 10. Webflow charges per Limited seat on top of the Site plan, and its owner seat is included.

On seat price alone, before usage and features:

  • At 3 editors, Sanity costs $45 a month, about half of Storyblok Growth's flat price.
  • At 5 to 10 editors, Sanity stays $15.75 a month below Storyblok billed annually and $24 below Storyblok billed monthly, because both then add $15 per seat.
  • Above 10 editors, Storyblok Growth no longer fits. Storyblok lists Growth Plus at $349 a month ($319.91 billed annually) with 15 seats, and custom pricing above that. Sanity Growth goes up to 50 seats.

Add frontend hosting to every headless row. The calculator does that for you, and takes your own Contentful figure.

Per-seat plans grow with every editor; flat plans with included seats stay level until the included seats run out.

What does a headless site add on top of the CMS?

A headless CMS stores and delivers content. The website itself is a separate codebase that your developers build, host and deploy. That adds three things:

  1. Frontend hosting. Vercel's Pro plan documentation lists a $20 monthly platform fee that includes $20 of usage credit and one deploying seat, with extra deploying seats at $20 a month each and unlimited free viewer seats. Vercel's pricing page says its free Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial use. Cloudflare's Pages limits say a site on its Free plan can contain up to 20,000 files, with 500 builds a month.
  2. A build and deploy pipeline. On Cloudflare Pages, for example, each push to your Git repository builds and deploys the site. Someone sets that pipeline up and keeps it working.
  3. Previews. Sanity lists live preview and visual editing on all plans, and Storyblok lists its Visual Editor on every plan, but your developers still connect the frontend so editors can see unpublished content.

Webflow CMS works differently: the CMS, the visual page builder and the hosting are one product. Webflow's Site plan guide describes a Site plan as what lets you publish a site to a custom domain, so there is no separate frontend host to pay for.

A headless CMS feeds a separately hosted frontend; Webflow CMS keeps content, pages and hosting on one base.

Where do overages come from?

Base prices assume you stay inside the included usage. These are the overage prices each vendor lists for its Growth plan or equivalent:

Vendor Included each month Listed overage price
Sanity Growth 1M API CDN requests, 250k API requests, 100 GB bandwidth, 100 GB assets $1 per 250k CDN requests, $1 per 25k API requests, $0.30 per GB bandwidth, $0.50 per GB assets
Sanity add-on Increased quota: 50k documents, 5M API CDN requests, 1M API requests, 500 GB bandwidth and assets +$299 a month
Storyblok Growth 400 GB traffic, 1M API requests $75 per extra 250 GB, up to 1 TB; $10 per extra 1M API requests, up to 5M
Vercel Pro $20 usage credit Usage beyond the credit is billed on demand
Webflow Premium 50 GB bandwidth Bandwidth add-ons from +$20 a month for +50 GB, billed yearly

The line to watch on a busy marketing site is API traffic. A frontend that fetches content each time a page is requested can make far more API calls than one that fetches it once when the site is built. Ask your developers which pattern they plan to use before you compare plans.

Webflow handles spikes with a grace period: its surge protection article says one month over a limit is not charged, but two consecutive months over it trigger an automatic upgrade.

Every plan has an included band; overage prices start where the needle crosses it.

Which pricing model suits a marketing team?

There are three models, and each scales with something different:

Model Example Grows with Watch for
Per seat Sanity Growth Every editor you add Occasional contributors who each need a seat
Flat with included seats Storyblok Growth Seats above 5, then traffic and API use The 10-seat ceiling and traffic overages
Site plan plus seats, hosting included Webflow Premium Editors, sites and add-ons The 20,000-item and 40-Collection caps

A team with many occasional contributors pays more under per-seat pricing; a team with high traffic and few editors watches usage lines instead. Free roles help too: Sanity includes free viewers, and Webflow includes 100 free reviewer seats per Workspace, according to its seats overview.

When is Webflow CMS the simpler choice?

Webflow CMS tends to be the simpler fit when:

  • Marketers build pages themselves. On Webflow, Limited seats can build pages with components, so new landing pages don't wait for a deploy.
  • The content serves one website. A headless CMS earns its extra layer when the same content feeds an app, a product UI or several sites.
  • You don't want to run a frontend. Hosting, staging and publishing are part of the Site plan.
  • The content fits Premium's limits. 20,000 CMS items and 40 Collections. Our guide to planning for Webflow CMS limits shows how to check.

A headless CMS tends to fit better when developers already own a frontend codebase, content is reused across channels, or you need content types and APIs beyond Webflow's limits. If you are comparing a code-first site with Webflow, our Astro vs Webflow guide looks at the same trade-off from the hosting side.

How ActiveSet does it

ActiveSet is a Webflow Premium Partner based in Bengaluru, India. Our CMS work is in Webflow: we set up the style guide first and build reusable components on Finsweet Client-First, then model Collections around how the team publishes. For Privado we have delivered CMS templates for webinars, events and the glossary, and a multi-author blog. For HeartFocus we built the site with CMS, forms and English and French localization. Our guide to Webflow CMS architecture and editor handoff shows how we structure that work.

If you are planning a content model, see Webflow CMS development.

Disclosure: ActiveSet is a Webflow Premium Partner and earns a commission from Webflow on Webflow plans. The prices in this post are Webflow's own list prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

(01)
Which headless CMS is cheapest for a five-person team?

On list price alone, Sanity Growth: five seats at $15 is $75 a month, against Storyblok Growth at $90.75 billed annually or $99 billed monthly, both checked 15 October 2026. Add frontend hosting, such as Vercel Pro at $20 a month, to either. Contentful's current price is on its own pricing page. Usage overages, features and roles can change the answer, so compare the plan details too.

(02)
Does a headless CMS include website hosting?

No. Sanity, Storyblok and Contentful store and deliver content through APIs; the website is a separate frontend that you host elsewhere, for example on Vercel or Cloudflare Pages. Vercel's free Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial use, so a company site normally needs Pro at $20 a month. Webflow CMS is different: hosting is part of the Site plan.

(03)
Can I pay for Sanity annually?

Not on the self-serve plans. Sanity's pricing FAQ says only monthly payments are supported for self-serve plans, and that annual payment is available on its Enterprise plan. Storyblok does offer annual billing on Growth, at $90.75 a month instead of $99, and Webflow's Premium Site plan is $25 a month billed yearly against $39 billed monthly.

(04)
How many editors can Storyblok's Growth plan have?

Up to 10. Storyblok's pricing page lists Growth with 5 seats included and extra seats at $15 a month each, to a maximum of 10. Its Growth Plus plan includes 15 seats at $349 a month, or $319.91 billed annually, and the Premium and Elite plans have custom pricing. Prices were checked on 15 October 2026.
