Every project starts with a written scope and a fixed price: what we will build, how it will be structured, what it will cost and when it will ship. You see the plan before you commit, and you own the code, the design files and the accounts when we are done.

Four stacks. We recommend the one that fits.

Most agencies sell the one platform they know. We work across four, so the recommendation is based on what you are trying to achieve, not on what we happen to prefer.

React development

How we build it
TypeScript, a component library your team can extend, and a clean split between interface and APIs, so the product stays maintainable.
Best for
Web applications, customer portals, dashboards and any site where the interface does real work.
Includes
Technical architecture, a TypeScript component system, API integration, tests on critical paths, a deployment pipeline and documentation.
Choose it when
Your website behaves like software: logins, filtered data, configurators, multi-step tasks.
Skip it when
You need a brochure site. Astro or Webflow ships faster and costs less to run.

Astro development

How we build it
Plain HTML by default, JavaScript only where a component needs it. Strong Core Web Vitals without constant tuning as you add pages.
Best for
Content-heavy marketing sites, docs, blogs and landing-page systems where speed and search matter most.
Includes
Information architecture, design build, a headless CMS (Sanity, Contentful, Storyblok), image and performance work, edge hosting.
Choose it when
You have a developer-led team, or want the control of code without a full app framework.
Skip it when
Nobody on your side will ever open a code editor. Webflow fits better.

Webflow development

How we build it
A visual editor on clean, semantic code, a CMS schema matched to how your content works, and page templates your team reuses.
Best for
Marketing websites your own team updates, redesigns and extends without a developer on call.
Includes
Figma-to-Webflow build, Client-First classes, CMS structure, responsive layouts, interactions, SEO, redirects and a handover session.
Choose it when
Editing speed and team independence matter more than custom back-end logic.
Skip it when
The site needs authentication, complex data or integrations Webflow cannot host.

Shopify development

How we build it
Online Store 2.0 themes, properly modelled product data, checkout extensions, and integrations with your email, reviews and stock tools.
Best for
Retail and D2C brands that need a store that converts, with payments, tax and fulfilment handled reliably.
Includes
Custom Online Store 2.0 themes, product templates, app integrations, migration from your current platform, performance tuning and Hydrogen for headless.
Choose it when
Selling physical or digital products is the core job of the site.
Skip it when
The store is a small part of a content site. Buy Button or headless may fit better.

Who we build for

Businesses in the US, UK, Canada and Australia that treat their website as a business asset rather than a formality.

Remote across US, UK and Australian time zones, with overlap hours agreed at the start of each project.

B2B and SaaS companies

A marketing site the team can update weekly, and sometimes a product front-end built in React alongside it.

Usual stack
Webflow + React

E-commerce and D2C brands

Launching a store, replatforming to Shopify, or rebuilding a theme that has grown slow and fragile.

Usual stack
Shopify

Professional services firms

Legal, financial, consulting and healthcare teams that need a credible, fast, accessible site with clear paths to enquiry.

Usual stack
Webflow or Astro

Funded startups

From Figma to a live site in weeks, with a structure that will not need throwing away at the next round.

Usual stack
Webflow, then React

Established businesses

A dated site losing ground on mobile, page speed or search, rebuilt without losing what already works.

Our terms, in writing.

Six commitments that sit in every proposal we send, whichever platform we recommend.

ActiveSet · Terms of engagement
Applies to every project
§1

Platform-neutral advice

We build in React, Astro, Webflow and Shopify, so we have no reason to push one. The recommendation is written down, with the trade-offs, before you sign.

§2

Written scope, fixed price

Pages, templates, integrations, deliverables and exclusions, quoted as a fixed price. If the scope changes, the price changes in writing.

§3

Built for whoever comes next

Clean class systems in Webflow, typed components in React, documented CMS schemas. Your next developer can pick it up without calling us.

§4

Performance by default

Static-first rendering, optimised images, minimal JavaScript, Core Web Vitals checked before launch. We cannot promise a ranking; the site will never be the reason you miss one.

§5

You own everything

Code repositories, Webflow and Shopify accounts, domain and hosting, all in your name from day one.

§6

One point of contact

A single project lead, a shared board you can see at any time, and a short written update every week until launch.

For ActiveSet
For your team

How a project runs

Seven steps, each with a named output. Design is signed off before development, and launch comes with a 30-day window for fixes at no extra cost.

Free · 30 minutes

Discovery call

What the site must do, who will maintain it, what exists today. A platform recommendation and budget range within two business days.

Wireframes, then Figma

Design

You review at both stages. Signed off before development begins, so the build is not redesigned mid-way.

Before launch

Quality assurance

Cross-browser and device testing, accessibility, forms and integrations, Core Web Vitals, and a full redirect map if we are replacing a site.

Optional

Ongoing support

A monthly retainer if you want us on call for updates, new pages and improvements.

Written proposal

Scope and estimate

Pages, templates, integrations, content responsibilities, timeline and a fixed price. Revisions are expected; nothing starts until it is agreed.

Staging URL

Development

Built on a staging URL you can view at any time, with a weekly written update and a shared task board. Content entry runs in parallel, so launch is not held up by copy.

Launch week

Launch and handover

DNS, analytics and Search Console, a recorded CMS walkthrough, written documentation and a 30-day fix window.

Which platform is right for you?

It depends on what the site has to do, who will maintain it, and how much custom logic it needs. Use this as a first pass; the discovery call settles it.

Your situation
Our usual recommendation
Why
Marketing site; your marketing team edits it; no developer in-house
Webflow
Visual editing, fast hosting, no plugins to maintain
Marketing or content site; developer-led team; speed and SEO first
Astro + headless CMS
Static HTML, minimal JavaScript, content in a proper CMS, code in version control
Users log in, manage data or configure something
React
Application-grade interactivity and state, built to scale with the product
Selling products; checkout, tax, shipping and inventory handled
Shopify
A mature commerce platform with a custom theme or headless front-end
Marketing site now, product app later
Webflow or Astro now, React later
Keep the marketing site simple; share one design system across both
Large store with a custom brand experience
Shopify Hydrogen
Shopify commerce back end with full front-end control in React

The simplest platform wins

If it meets the requirement, the simpler stack is the one we recommend. Complexity you do not need is cost you pay forever.

No surprises after the estimate

If the recommendation changes during discovery, we tell you before the estimate, not after.

FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

(01)
How much does website development cost?

It depends on platform, page count, custom functionality and content readiness. A Webflow marketing site, a React application and a Shopify store are different kinds of work with different price ranges. Every ActiveSet quote is a fixed price against a written scope, so you will know the number before work starts. Send a brief and we will give you a range within two business days.

(02)
How long does a website take to build?

A focused marketing site on Webflow or Astro typically runs several weeks from kickoff to launch; application and e-commerce projects take longer depending on integrations and content. The timeline is set in the proposal, and the most common cause of delay is content arriving late, which is why we plan content entry alongside development.

(03)
What is the difference between a web development company and a web design agency?

Design agencies focus on how a site looks and feels; development companies focus on how it is built and how it performs. ActiveSet does both: design in Figma, then a production build on the right platform. You do not need a second vendor to turn designs into a working site.

(04)
Should I use Webflow or custom development?

If your team will update the site often and you do not need custom back-end logic, Webflow is usually the better choice. If the site is an application, has complex data, or needs integrations Webflow cannot host, custom development in React or Astro is the right call. We will recommend one and explain why.

(05)
Will my website be responsive and mobile-friendly?

Yes. Every build is designed and tested across phone, tablet and desktop breakpoints before launch. Responsive layout is part of the standard scope, not an add-on.

(06)
Can you redesign my existing website without losing search rankings?

Yes, with a redirect map and metadata migration built into the project. We audit which URLs currently earn traffic, preserve or redirect every one of them, and verify the site in Search Console after launch. We cannot guarantee rankings, but we can make sure the rebuild does not throw away what already works.

(07)
Do you offer ongoing website maintenance?

Yes. Our retainer gives you a fixed block of development hours each month, a shared backlog and a committed response time. It covers all four platforms we build on.

(08)
Do you work with businesses outside your own country?

Yes. ActiveSet works with clients in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia. We agree overlap hours at the start of each project and run everything through shared tools, so distance does not slow the work down.

(09)
Who owns the website when the project is finished?

You do. Code repositories, Webflow or Shopify accounts, hosting, domain and design files are all set up in your name and handed over at launch.

(10)
Can you take over a site another agency built?

Usually, yes. We start with a short technical audit to assess the build quality, then quote either a takeover with fixes or a rebuild, whichever is more cost-effective for you.
